Custodians of diamond beauty since 1854

Entrusted by the greatest diamond lovers to bring out the ultimate beauty in diamonds, the Asscher family of the House of Royal Asscher continues cutting the most breathtaking stones in the world. ‍Beyond this irresistible calling for craft, the Asscher’s are at the forefront of ethics, transparency, and accountability in the diamond trade - because beauty means everything to Royal Asscher, measured in how a diamond looks on the finger and its impact on the world.

“When I look into it, the deep Asscher cuts - which are so complete and ravishing - are like steps that lead into eternity and beyond.”

– Elizabeth Taylor

Mike Asscher

President of Royal Asscher.
6th generation Asscher family member.
Young Diamantaires Charity Committee Member

Within the diamond industry, Mike Asscher is widely known as “Mister Diamond” — a title earned through an extraordinary passion, instinct, and mastery of the craft that few diamantaires possess today.

A true diamantaire in the purest sense of the word, Mike has dedicated his life to understanding every aspect of natural diamonds: from rough evaluation and polishing to cut development, beauty optimization, and the pursuit of exceptional craftsmanship. Deeply involved in the technical and artistic side of the business from a young age, he worked his way through every department within Royal Asscher, learning the craft directly from his father Edward and uncle Joop.

Mike has played a pivotal role in the ongoing evolution of Royal Asscher’s “Cut for Beauty” philosophy. Alongside his father Edward, he helped develop several patented Royal Asscher diamond cuts, including the Royal Asscher Round Brilliant, Oval, Pearshape, Emerald and Cushion Cuts.

Known throughout the industry for his rare combination of technical expertise, intuition, and emotional connection to stones, Mike represents a generation of diamantaires that is becoming increasingly rare in the modern diamond world.

Lita Asscher

President of Royal Asscher.
6th generation Asscher family member.
World Diamond Council Ambassador

Together with her brother Mike, Lita Asscher represents the sixth generation of the Asscher family. Often referred to internally as “the Asscher twins” for their remarkably aligned vision, instinct, and shared passion for diamonds, the two have helped shape a new chapter for Royal Asscher by combining generations of inherited craftsmanship with a modern understanding of luxury and consumer experience.

Driven by a desire to broaden both her perspective and understanding of the global luxury market, she moved to New York to immerse herself in the American jewelry industry and learn from some of the world’s leading designers, retailers, and luxury houses.

Today, Lita oversees business development, brand strategy, and jewelry development for Royal Asscher worldwide. Alongside her role within Royal Asscher, Lita has remained deeply committed to the broader jewelry and diamond industry through various leadership and board positions. Her involvement reflects the Asscher family’s long-standing belief that leadership within the diamond industry extends beyond business alone and carries a responsibility toward the future, integrity, and preservation of the trade itself.

Edward Asscher

Chairman of Royal Asscher.
5th generation Asscher family member
Former President of the World Diamond Council & Co-Founder of the Kimberley Process.

For more than five decades, Edward Asscher has been one of the defining voices in the world of natural diamonds — renowned not only for his leadership within the industry, but for his extraordinary eye for beauty, proportion, and craftsmanship.

A master of evaluating rough diamonds and transforming them into polished stones of exceptional balance and character, Edward has dedicated his life to the belief that true diamond beauty goes far beyond technical grading alone. His passion for craftsmanship and “Cut for Beauty” continues to shape the philosophy and standards of Royal Asscher today.

Together with his late brother Joop Asscher, Edward pioneered the evolution of the Asscher family’s cutting legacy through the creation of the Royal Asscher Cut in 2001 — the first of a new generation of patented Royal Asscher diamond cuts that redefined the house’s approach to beauty, light, and proportion for the modern era.

Despite a lifetime spent among some of the world’s most extraordinary diamonds, Edward’s passion for discovering truly beautiful stones remains as strong today as ever.

Built in 1854 to cut the finest diamonds in the world.

The Asscher family has handled the most important and historically significant diamonds than any other diamantaire in history. The family's uncompromising dedication to craft and artistry began with the rise of the Dutch diamond industry in the mid-1800s. The Asscher's ability to cut and reveal the ultimate beauty of a diamond was honed and passed on, generation after generation, leading to some of the most iconic rough diamonds in human history ending up in the hands of an Asscher to shape. But what matters most to the Asscher's is a timeless love of diamonds buried in the deepest depths of the family's heart and the stories that come with them that become part of the story of the House of Royal Asscher.
