Color
GIA’s color-grading scale for diamonds is the industry standard. The scale begins with the letter D, representing colorless, and continues with increasing presence of color to the letter Z.
At Royal Asscher our diamond center stones are independently laboratory color-graded in perfect standardized lighting conditions. Our diamonds range from exclusively Colorless to Near Colorless (FG to GH color on GIA’s color-grading scale).

Clarity
Billions of years of intense heat and pressure from volcanic forces shape the carbon atoms underground into diamonds as we imagine them. In fact, a diamond’s clarity is dependent on the amount of time, heat, and pressure, the more of each, the clearer the stone. Clarity is defined by nature and cannot be altered, only graded. Every diamond is unique, and we hand-select only the most desirable stones. Clarity refers to the absence of inclusions and blemishes in a diamond.
We exclusively offer two diamond options - VS or better and SI or better.
VS or better: When choosing this option, you will receive a diamond with a clarity grading of between IF and VS2. The lowest clarity you may receive is a VS (Very Small Inclusion).
Diamonds that are graded VS have minor inclusions that are difficult to somewhat easy to see for a skilled grader using 10x magnification. Even under 10x magnification, a VS1 diamond will probably look flawless to a non-expert. For most customers, much time and concentration staring at a diamond under a loupe will be required before noticing even one speck. You definitely won’t see the inclusions in a VS diamond with the naked eye, nor in one set in an engagement ring.
SI or better: When choosing this option, you will receive a diamond that has a clarity grading of between SI1 and SI2. The lowest clarity you can receive is an SI2. About one-third of diamonds sold in the world fall into the SI1-SI2 range. This is a diamond that is “Slightly Included”. SI diamonds have imperfections. These flaws are larger or more numerous than those in diamonds with higher clarity grades. An expert viewing such a diamond up-close will notice some flaws. However, you’re unlikely to notice any flaws from the distance you would normally view your ring.
This doesn’t mean that SI clarity diamonds are a poor choice. In fact, most SI1 clarity diamonds look just as good as a higher clarity diamond. Clarity grades can have a significant impact on a diamond’s price. So this choice gives you the option to get a larger carat diamond instead of a “better” color/clarity grade.

With Our Ring Sizing Guide:
If you would like to measure your ring size immediately, print out our Ring Sizing Guide. Before you print the Guide, be sure to check that ‘page scaling’ is set to “none” on your document’s ‘print dialog box’. Use the Ring Sizing Guide to measure a ring you have at home by placing the ring over the size circles until it matches the inside edge of your ring. Make sure the ring you measure fits the exact finger (and hand) you would like your new diamond ring on.
Start by cutting out the Ring Sizer. Wrap the ring sizer snugly around the widest part of the intended finger with the numbers visible, and insert the pointed end through the slit you made in the Sizer. Take note of the number that lines up with the slit. This is your ring size!

Helpful Ring Size Tips
Our dominant hands are generally slightly larger. So ensure you measure the correct finger on the correct hand!
Rings with wider bands will fit a bit tighter. If you plan to measure one of your partner’s rings, measure one with a similar width as the ring you intend to purchase.
When measuring, ensure the finger is at normal body temperature. Fingers can shrink or expand when hot or cold.
Your fingers tend to change size throughout the day. The best time to measure your finger is the end of the day.
If your knuckle visibly protrudes, take two (2) measurements and choose a size in between. Your ring needs to pass over the knuckle but not be too loose as that will cause it to shift around.
If you’re unsure, choose a slightly bigger engagement ring. Making a ring smaller is much easier than increasing its size. In addition, a size up might be ideal if you live in warm areas because the heat can make your fingers swell.
